The Leading Lion

This month, we are talking about how to Make A Difference in the relationships that are important to you. Make no mistake: Without interest and effort, your relationships will wither and die. Knowing who you are communicating with is always important, but understanding how to communicate with that person is critical to successfully connecting with them.

Over the course of the next 4 weeks, we’re going to talk about four very different personality traits based on the Make A Difference Personality Profile. They are the Leading Lion, The Competent Camel, The Much Loved Monkey, and The Tranquil Turtle. Let’s discuss the Lion first.

A leader was trying to communicate with a colleague who has a Lion personality. The Lion made many assumptions, dominated the conversation, and totally did not hear what the other person was trying to say. This resulted in frustration and damaged their working relationship. It is important to understand how to communicate with Lions. Here are a few things to remember when engaging with a Lion.

  • Lions can be abrupt and straightforward

  • Lions communicate with a task-driven mindset

  • Lions respect strength and direct language

Learning to speak the Lion’s language will allow you to connect and grow your relationship with the Lions in your life. Check out my book, Make A Difference, to learn more about engaging with Lion personalities.

Think about this question:

Are you willing to spend the time and energy to effectively communicate and connect with the important people in your life and strengthen those relationships?

If the answer is yes, you are on your way to making a difference.
