Much Loved Monkey

We are celebrating March Madness with a little MADness of our own. We are talking about personalities and how to communicate and connect with each of the four personalities from the Make A Difference personality profile: the Lion, the Camel, the Monkey, and the Turtle. Last week, we talked about Camels, so this week, let’s take a look at the Much Loved Monkey.

Do you know someone who has natural charisma? This person can naturally talk to anyone about anything at any time. I know a person who has those qualities. He is fun to be around and seems to have tons of friends in his life. The truth is that many mistake his natural people skills for joy or fulfillment. They think that his extrovert personality equals always being happy and on top of the world. He is misunderstood. Once he became aware of a few things about himself, he was able to communicate with others on a deeper level.

Here are a few things that you may not know about our Much-Loved Monkey friends:

  • Monkeys can put their own needs and feelings aside when trying to connect with others.

  • Monkeys are natural communicators and need verbal communication from others.

  • Monkeys need to feel accepted and valued in order to feel validated.

When my friend increased his self-awareness of what he needed, his valued relationships became stronger. He was able to use his strength of communicating to share his needs with those he loved. Consequently, his relationships became stronger, and he experienced more fulfillment.

Take the time to connect with the Much Loved Monkeys in your life. Share a laugh and let them know how much they mean to you.  When you learn to speak the language of Much Loved Monkeys, you will make a difference.
